SPRING Our fly fishing season begins about the middle of April, when lowland run off ebbs and our brown trout streams clear. The weather tends dry and sunny through late May though some unsettled conditions occur. April sees the first great hatches of the year with a variety of stoneflies. Late April & into May, blue winged olives, march browns, caddis all begin to hatch. We focus on brown trout streams and early season risers as the fishing can be excellent.

SUMMER June is Alberta's wettest month of the year and mountain reaching rivers will be in run-off mid month. Spring creeks and many of our low elevation brown trout streams remain in good shape, however, with good hatches. July's weather rolls with a mixture of thunderstorms and sunny skies. The great cutthroat trout fishing begins! August brings low, clear water, and pleasant weather. Amazing hopper fishing on brown trout streams and the Bow can occur. |
AUTUMN September and October tend to be the most pleasant months, with weather trending more moderate temperatures and dry. There is usually an equinox storm the week either side of Sept 21 which brings cool, cloudy weather, blue winged olives, and rising trout. Sight fishing tends to be a great opportunity this time of the year as waters are low and clear. |
