Book Your Fly Fishing Trip!

We are based out of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada - an hour or so north of Calgary. We operate the central Alberta region NW of Calgary, SW of Edmonton.

Travel & Accommodations ~ Our region is easily accessed from Edmonton or Calgary and their International Airports. There are great hotels, b&bs. We'll co-ordinate recommendations with your preferences upon booking.

Booking Policies ~ As we're not looking to completely fill our season guiding nor employ contract guides, we tend to book up. We like to have our bookings for the season done 3 months in advance. The earlier you call the better the chance you will get your desired dates. Upon booking, we'll require a 50% deposit which is refundable up to 90 days from the start of your trip. Inside of 90 days the deposit is nonrefundable.  Deposits are only transferable to another date if notice of a desired change is communicated to us ahead of the 90 days advance of your trip, to allow us time to try to fill the date(s). We have a limited season and we appreciate your consideration.
As we are not water specific, holding the right to fish where we deem best, in the event of  very harsh weather and water conditions we will find the best opportunity to fish. At our discretion we may extend the courtesy to you of postponing your trip to another date. This is to ensure you get the best trip possible. We do host trips rain or shine as some of the best hatches occur in the worst weather possible. If we offer postponement, deposit credit is held for a period of one year to complete your trip. As we extend this courtesy to you, we appreciate that you appreciate the nature of our business and extend the courtesy to us in rebooking. In saying all this, we are generally quite flexible and reasonable, we've been in the customer service industry for 20+ years and get flexibility is the way things need to be.
The fishing may not be what you are used to or what your expectations are. This is why we are sharing our knowledge of sight fishing and hatch chasing based on the best possible conditions that day. Our rivers each have their own challenge and character. We try to focus on the style of fishing we've discussed. The day may well turn out to be about learning about different styles or aspects of fly fishing with few trout engaged. A detailed and complete confirmation letter & package will be sent to you upon receipt of your deposit.

Each guest will need:

  • Valid WIN card and fishing/angling license for Alberta

  • Equipment (rod, flies, waders, etc) unless otherwise arranged.

  • Your own transportation to the meeting location.

  • Signed waiver form

Upon booking we will email a confirmation letter for your deposit and the gear/equipment list will be attached. We recommend that you travel with the gear you are most familiar with.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect you in case of cancellation, as payments are non-refundable after the cancellation deadline. The cost for travel insurance is generally quite reasonable.

Details for the Helicopter Option on the Ram River ~ In the event that weather postpones a multi day trip, we will continue with plans for that trip at the earliest available time or host you on our Cutthroat Canyon float if conditions permit on that river. If you choose to wait for weather to clear to fly to the Ram, and over night accommodations are needed, the customer is responsible for food and accommodation costs. This has not happened in our years of operations, but we must communicate this - to be fair. A few trips are delayed an hour or two, and we have only once cancelled a trip day out right due to weather. If the helicopter is unavailable due to fire, seismic operations, or due to wet seasons limiting its work locally and needs to leave the area, we will present alternative options to you. If we know the Ram is blown out due to muddy waters, we will not host you on it. We will host you on our Cutthroat Canyon river.

Thank you for your consideration to these matters. These policies have been implemented as we operate during a narrow season and to reflect our ability to operate a business. It is our intention to make the best of the scenarios as they arise. It isn't often, but conditions are not always perfect.
